Community Initiatives
Vibrant Communities Calgary (VCC)
A multi-sectoral group of local community leaders working to reduce poverty in Calgary. It is part of a network of communities across Canada that share ideas, practices and policies to strengthen community-based poverty reduction initiatives. Momentum co-convenes this initiative with the United Way of Calgary and Area.
Employment Access Coalition
A group of concerned citizens, businesses, and community agencies that are working to reduce race-related barriers to employment. In October of 2004, the group organized a one-day symposium on "Employment and the African- Canadian experience."
Alberta CED Network
A new initiative that brings people together from across the province to provide training and share best practices in the area of Community Economic Development (CED).
Calgary Homeless Family Sector Review
This initiative clarifies the roles of funders and non-profit agencies involved in the issue of homelessness. It maximizes the impact of limited resources in the prevention and reduction of homelessness
Calgary Small Business Week
Organized by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, this week allows small business owners to network, learn new skills, and recognize the role that small businesses play in developing the local economy.
Calgary Low-Income Review Coalition (CLIC)
A consumer driven group representing AISH recipients. The group works to generate greater public awareness about the issues related to AISH and the consequences of public policy decisions on AISH recipients.
Pan-Canadian Community Economic Development (CED) Learning Network
A national initiative that seeks to develop a greater awareness of the impact that CED organizations have on the level of social inclusion in communities.
