Guest Speaker - Small Business Topics

Purpose of Volunteer Role:

Speakers on various business topics are needed to give participants information and resources that help them plan their businesses. Bringing speakers in is also a way to build bridges/overcome barriers between participants and potential support networks.

Description of Duties:

Speakers will:

  • Present to a group of between 8 & 20 adults on one of the various self-employment topics (see list below).
  • Collaborate with the facilitator of the group to make sure that the content is appropriate for the group.

Skills/Qualifications Required:

Speaker must have related education/training and/or experience in the areas of:

  • Accounting
  • Business Plans
  • Entrepreneurial Transition
  • Financial Statements
  • Insurance Issues
  • Legal Issues
  • Marketing
  • Research
  • Taxes

Length of Term:

Ongoing

Specific Time of Day Required:

Evenings 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Time Commitment:

2 - 4 sessions per year. Each session between 2-3 hours.
