Momentum is One of Six Charities Named Among Alberta Top 50 Employers
Calgary AB – February 2, 2011—Momentum Community Economic Development Society has been selected as one of Alberta’s Top 50 Employers for 2011. The list—announced by the competition’s editorial partners Edmonton Journal and Calgary Herald on February 1 & 2, respectively—is selected by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 employers.
Momentum was chosen as one of Alberta’s Top 50 Employers because they offer a variety of benefits to their staff, such as three weeks of vacation to start, paid professional development for courses related to the job, RSP contribution matching to 5%, maternity and parental leave top up, life and disability insurance, annual bonuses and employee health plan with 100% of the premiums paid by Momentum.
Momentum’s organizational vision is that every person in Calgary can have a sustainable livelihood and contribute to their community. Momentum lives this vision through its programs as well as by being a Living Wage Leader, ensuring that all employees and contractors earn a wage that allows them to live sustainably.
The staff at Momentum are excited to have their workplace chosen as one of Alberta’s Top 50 Employers. Momentum had to compete with larger organizations for selection and has proven that a small, not-for-profit organization can offer its staff benefits and work culture in line with those offered by large, private companies.
