Technology Access

Bridging the Digital Divide...

This phrase has faithfully guided the direction of services and programs of the Technology Access Program for both Momentum program participants and members of the general public.

The Technology Access Program, at its core, is committed to transforming technology into a meaningful, useful and uncomplicated instrument for those inexperienced with using computers for employment-related activities.

The Technology Access - WHAT WE DO

The Technology Access has existed for just over 6 years as a program, since May, 2001. Prior to that we were simply a lab open to the public and program participants. Our public usage has increased dramatically. Currently our access for 1 month is more than the whole year prior to May, 2001. We recently closed down our main computer lab and are now running a mobile lab unit instead. However, 8 computers are set-up for drop-in use for members of the public.

TA offers:

  • Public computer access for employment activities through the public access computers on site
  • Computer training through our computer workshops
  • Support and guidance to current program participants at Momentum
  • Expansion of computer learning opportunities through the creation of community learning sites in select low-income communities in Calgary.

Our goals for 2007 include:

  • Welcoming at least 650 new users to the lab
  • Hours of use exceeding 4000 hours
  • 150 new members to join the CLICK Program
