Trades Training Program
It can be hard to find that first great career in a construction or manufacturing trade if you don’t have the skills you need. This 6-month pre-apprentice program can help you build important skills to achieve your dreams.
Tuition grants and living allowances are available.

Learn the skills
- Upgrading in English, Math, Science and Life Skills
- Technical training in one of three trades, through SAIT
- Safety and First Aid Certification
- Work placement
Work towards becoming a:
- Plumber/Pipefitter
- Heavy Duty Technician
- Glazier (glass repair & installation)
- Green Building (Siding & Insulation Installer)

Momentum will help you:
- Learn about attitudes that will help you succeed
- Develop the vocabulary (words) used in your trade
- With one-on-one support
- With an opportunity to enter an apprenticeship
- Build self-confidence for your future
How much does it cost?
This program is free.
Do I qualify?
This program is for people who:
- Are underemployed or unemployed,
- Are an immigrant* or Aboriginal person,
- Have been a resident of Alberta for at least 3 months, and
- Are currently living in Calgary.
*Immigrants must have a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 4/5.
How do I Apply?
Sessions Start:
- Pipefitting—April 10, 2012
