Womens Venture Programs
Program Outline
The Women's Venture Program is a free program offering low-income women the knowledge and skills necessary to start their own business. Experienced business people and volunteers in specialized fields facilitate this program. Outcomes of this program include a comprehensive business plan and the launch of your business.
This is a 24 week part-time program consisting of:
- Research on Competitors and Customers (Feasibility study)
- Business Plan
- Business Operations
- Entrepreneurial Transitioning
- Launching your business
- One-on-one Coaching
How It Works
This 6 month program runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from
6:00 pm to 8:30 pm and some Saturdays are involved.
- 16 weeks classroom instruction with facilitator and volunteers
- One on one business coaching begins in week 7
- Coaching continues weekly for the duration of the program
- Participants are expected to complete a business plan and launch their business within the 6 month program

Who Can Apply?
Any woman who is interested in starting her own business and:
- has a low income
- possibly has not finished school
- works at a "dead-end" job.
- may have come from another country (good understanding of the English language is an asset)
- in general, is facing barriers to financial stability
Program Dates
This program is offered two times per year in the spring and fall. The date of the next program is as follows:
September 30, 2008
How to Apply?
- Must attend an Exploring Entrepreneurship Orientation Session
- Fill out application form
- There is a formal interview process before any applicant can be accepted
